Helen Cochrane (Exhibition Viola) Caught ? awaiting . bee less . hand pollination

I have used a new method this year to prevent bees placing unwanted pollen onto receptive blooms.

The use of small onion bags, obtained for a very low price on E-Bay ,held over the bloom with short bamboo sticks has been a complete success.

In previous years I have tried all sorts of bee prevention, but these are so simple and really do work having observed bees trying to get to the nectar tube of a flower without being able to penetrate the nylon bag.
