Nature’s evolution- or the bumblebees work

A jewel box of new colours ,shapes, just a few examples of how bumblebees have produced many crosses by the transfer of pollen last year and the resulting seedlings.

This may be Nature’s way, but when trying to reach a set of standards, then it is a lottery with about as good odds as our National one, if we rely on the bee to produce a Florist bloom.

Much more attention to detail and precise crossing technique needs to be employed.

I have made some thirty  crosses so far this year- in a two week period ,and will give details of what happened, in future posts or in the Society’s publications due out soon.
